Description
The Stanserhorn Railway opened on August 23, 1893, and originally ran from Stans to the summit of the Stanserhorn. It was one of the earliest electrically powered funicular railways in Switzerland and is an example of early industrial mountain railway development in the Alpine region. Today, the historic railway still runs to the Kälte middle station, from where the summit can be reached by modern cable car.
