Director Michael Koch shoots again in Uri

Filming for Michael Koch's new film EROSION began in mid-September. The Swiss director has already shot the feature film DRII WINTER (2023) in Uri, creating an impressive work.

EROSION is set against the backdrop of highly specialized top-level surgery and the mountains of Uri. The lead role is played by American actor Peter Sarsgaard. As in DRII WINTER, the other roles are played by amateur actors and actresses.

The story is about a renowned neurosurgeon whose life falls apart after a botched operation in which a young girl dies. When his own daughter disappears, he embarks on a journey into an archaic mountain world – and into his own inner self.

Our picture shows director Michael Koch and his team setting up the funeral scene in front of the church, which was filmed in the municipality of Bristen.

EROSION is a Hugofilm Features production in co-production with Pandora Filmproduktion, SRF, SRG SSR, and Arte, and is expected to hit theaters in fall 2026.

This summer, Lucerne was the setting for the filming of various documentary projects related to the Lucerne Festival:

For example, BBC Productions filmed at the Mandarin Oriental with Cecilia Bartoli for the documentary art series ARTS IN MOTION.

Accentus Music Leipzig filmed for DIE MACHT DES RINGS (The Power of the Ring), a co-production with WDR, ARTE, and SRF, naturally also at the Richard Wagner Museum.

OPEN END - DER MUSIKER UND INTENDANT MICHAEL HAEFLIGER by bce films & more from Munich accompanied the long-standing artistic director of the Lucerne Festival, during the last edition of the prestigious festival under his aegis, among other things.

Curious? – Here you can see and read more about the three projects.

Spot on

Here we introduce people, companies, or organizations from the creative industry in Central Switzerland.

Today, the spotlight shines on the office right next to us:

Welcome to our office community, dear Sarah Elena Schwerzmann!

After working at the Federal Office of Culture (FOC) and the German-French cultural channel ARTE, Sarah Elena Schwerzmann started as the new managing director at Film Zentralschweiz on September 1.

The Film Zentralschweiz association, which represents the interests of filmmakers in Central Switzerland, is an important partner organization for us. So six years ago, when we had the opportunity to move into our office at Gesegnetmattstrasse 10, it was obvious that we would form an office community.

Regular contact and exchange with filmmakers enables us to provide technicians and creative professionals in all areas for production inquiries and projects. In addition, we have many other interfaces and opportunities for cooperation, and as we all know, sometimes one plus one equals three!

From alpine to urban – and everything in between: Central Switzerland offers a wide variety of landscapes in a small area, as well as unique locations. In each newsletter, we introduce you to one of them.

This time, we're heading to an alp in the canton Obwalden:

Frutt Mountain Resort on Lake Melchsee OW

A high plateau in a karst region at almost 2,000 meters above sea level, an enchanting mountain lake, a magnificent mountain panorama: this is Melchsee Frutt.

The Frutt Mountain Resort is located in this magical place, right on Lake Melchsee. The modern building captures the magic of the place: natural materials, high-quality interior design with warm wooden elements, and coordinated details in Alpine style create an atmospheric ambience.

The location was impressively staged in 2013 by Lucerne-based director Judith Kennel in the ZDF television film WER LIEBT, LÄSST LOS (Who Loves, Lets Go).
