Small Island with a long history.

Location

6424 Lauerz

Description

On the island of Schwanau in the Lauerzersee today there is a castle ruin and a restaurant. The settlement of the piece of land took place already 1200 years ago. For a long time the island was under Lenzburg, Kyburg and then Habsburg rule. The keep was built between 1200 and 1240. The hermit Johann Linder came to the island in 1684 and had a chapel built. During the Goldau landslide, the tidal wave flooded the entire island.
