Position

Schafmattstrasse 1
4915 St. Urban

Description

The impressive Cistercian monastery was founded in 1195. Over the centuries, the complex was expanded and today stands out for its white facades and baroque church. Also worth seeing are the oak and walnut choir stalls and the church organ, one of the largest baroque organs in Europe. After the abolition of the monastery, the buildings served as a psychiatric clinic. This was recently moved to new buildings. Today, the monastery complex serves as a cultural and event location and convinces with the diverse, historic rooms and with the church as a concert hall.
