Description
One of the most famous old town squares in Lucerne is the Weinmarkt (Wine Market), which stands out for its picturesque facades and its vastness. In 1332, the Lucerne oath to join the Confederation was made on the Wine Market. From 1453 until the 16th century, the famous Easter plays were held on the square. These are considered an outstanding stage performance in the early history of German-language drama.
