Willisau - an old town with charm

Location

6130  Willisau

Description

Willisau, capital of the Lucerne district of the same name, is not only known for its Willisauer-Ringli (pastries), but also for its historic old town with its medieval wooden buildings. The Müligass row of houses in particular bears witness to the historic architecture. The oldest building is the late Romanesque bell tower. The Holy Blood Chapel is also worth seeing. The legend of the origin of the name Willisau says that two brothers thought of a name, whereupon one said: "Mir isch glych, wi d s duu witt, will i s ou" ( = It's all the same to me, as you want it, I want it too). In recent times, the international jazz festival has also made Willisau famous.
