On February 19, Frauke Finsterwalder (director) and the producers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland presented "Sisi & ich" to a large audience at the 73rd Berlinale. The film will be shown in cinemas in Germany and Switzerland from March 30.

"A feast for the eyes at the Berlinale: Frauke Finsterwalder's film "Sisi & Ich" is a love story - and a hymn to idleness and the South," writes Claudius Seidl in the FAZ. Large parts of this celebration were made in Switzerland, at St. Charles Hall in Meggen near Lucerne and on the shores of Lake Lucerne in the city of Lucerne.

St. Charles Hall has become a popular filming location in recent years. Important scenes of productions such as "*Gotthard" (CH, DE, A, 2016), "Frieden" (CH, DE, FR, 2020), "Das Netz" (DE, 2022), "Der Scheich" (DE, 2022) and "Sisi & ich" (DE, CH, A, 2023) were shot in the 1895 villa. Scenes for the Sisi film were produced in the magnificent building with a view of the lake and mountains, which historically took place in Bad Kissingen, among other places.

The eccentric empress was murdered on the lakeside promenade in Geneva on September 10, 1898. Filming on the original location was no longer possible due to urban development. The director and production therefore decided on Lucerne. Here, the lakeside promenade still presents itself as it did at the end of the 19th century. In addition, Lucerne offers ideal conditions for filming.

The Film Commission Lucerne & Central Switzerland is proud to have been able to contribute to the success of "Sisi & I" with the two film locations and thanks the director and production for the excellent cooperation.
